We Must Not Surrender to Economic Terrorism
No Government by Hostage: Biden Must Not Negotiate with MAGA Extremists over the Debt Ceiling
QUICK READ: We must not allow a party with whisper-thin control over one house of Congress to force unpopular policy upon the nation to placate MAGA extremism. We must abolish the debt ceiling, generate a clean bill to raise it, or pursue other constitutional options.

BACKGROUND
In January, we reached the $31.4 trillion “debt ceiling,” leaving us until June to authorize the funds to pay for programs Congress already enacted.
According to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, failure to raise the debt ceiling would force a U.S. default that would be disastrous for the economy, “plunging the country into a spiraling recession.” It would also cause investors to lose confidence in the U.S. Treasury, triggering a global financial crisis.
Nevertheless, MAGA Republicans are irresponsibly threatening to sabotage our economic recovery by refusing to raise the debt ceiling without unspecified massive government spending cuts—a position highly unpopular with American voters.
President Biden and Congressional Democrats must continue refusing to negotiate with MAGA extremist blackmailers over previously incurred expenses—which occurs only when there’s a Democratic President.
To prevent this potential economic Armageddon, Congress must abolish the debt ceiling, generate a clean bill to raise it, or pursue other constitutional options.
We cannot allow GOP government-by-hostage.
