Election Day: Our Freedoms, Our Futures

QUICK READ: We have worked hard fighting the MAGA agenda to protect our freedom, defend our democracy, and enshrine unity, dignity, and opportunity. We stand united against hatred, division, racism, misogyny, court corruption, and burgeoning fascism. Let us keep calm through the inevitable GOP mischief to come and await a glorious celebration together on Inauguration Day.

BACKGROUND

Americans from all over the nation have worked hard fighting the MAGA agenda to  protect our freedom, defend our democracy, and enshrine unity, dignity, and opportunity.

We wrote hundreds of thousands of letters and postcards. We phone banked. We knocked on doors nearby and in neighboring states to talk with our fellow citizens about the importance of this election. We took a united stand against hatred, division, racism, misogyny, court corruption, and burgeoning fascism.

Now we are about to elect our first female President. Last week, Vice President Kamala Harris spoke for us all when she used the site of the deadly January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol to articulate her plans for a brighter future rooted in freedom as a human right for all.

That the votes appearing to matter most in this election are those from a mere handful of states is all the more reason for us to win–so we can pass the Voting Rights Act to undo gerrymandering, reform the electoral college, and take dark money out of U.S. elections.

In the coming days and weeks, we must remain calm, even when mischief abounds. We know Trump will claim victory before all votes are counted and regardless of the tallies. There will also be an avalanche of frivolous lawsuits challenging the vote counts that will fail, allowing us to finally celebrate our impressive victory on Inauguration Day.

So, until that glorious day, let’s take a deep breath knowing that all our work helped save our democracy, which is the first step towards creating the free and equal society we all crave.
